Repair

Water ingress under the nearside windows

Completed March 2019

Water ingress under the nearside windows, the damage found
Van
Coachbuilt motorhome
Problem
Damp smell and soft panelling under the nearside windows. The timber frame behind the lining had rotted through where the window seals had failed.
Turnaround
6 days

The owner noticed a musty smell and a patch of lining that gave way under thumb pressure. By the time we opened it up, the batten behind the window had gone black and crumbled. Classic failed-seal water ingress, and it had been getting worse for at least a season.

Left alone, this spreads. Water tracks along the frame and into the floor, and a repair that costs a few hundred turns into a rebuild.

We stripped the lining back to sound timber, cut out and replaced the rotted frame, resealed both windows, and relined and refinished so the repair is invisible. Six days start to finish.
