Damp above the window, stripped and rebuilt

- Staining and a soft patch above the offside window. The batten behind the lining had gone and the board was holding damp.

The owner had noticed a mark above the window and assumed it was condensation. It was not. Once the lining came off, the batten running above the window had gone soft the whole way along and the board behind it was wet to the touch.
This is the point where a repair either gets done properly or gets covered up. Painting over it would have looked fine for a season and then come back worse, because the water still has a way in.
The window came out, the rotted timber was cut away and replaced, the seal was redone, and the wall was rebuilt and relined. Eight days, most of which was waiting for it to dry out properly before closing it up.
